I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about Chat GPT. I’ve played around with it. It’s a good source of knowledge, and it does a decent job of translation. However, it’s not a golden ticket to MBA admission.
There’s a lot of controversy about some candidates using ChatGPT or other AI tools to write their essays. I have a simple piece of advice: Don’t do it! Using ChatGPT might seem like an easy shortcut, but your admissions essays should reflect YOUR unique story, experiences, and aspirations. Admissions committees seek authenticity and your genuine voice. AI can’t match your personal touch. What’s more, the schools are on full alert for AI-generated essays. When they see non-native English speakers submitting essays with highly sophisticated English (often well beyond the level of most native English speakers) and abstract, impersonal subject matter it will raise suspicions. Of course it is fine to have someone read your essays and give you feedback, but it is very important that your own voice comes through. Also, I can tell you from my experiences with my clients that it can be a very rewarding experience to take the time and effort to carefully consider your motivations, interests and goals, and putting them down on paper. It’s like a voyage of self discovery. You will miss out on that when you rely on an AI tool do do the work for you.
